Hi folks. If anyone’s ISAS is expired (like mine), you have a 2 year window from the date of expiration when you can do a “refresh” instead of retaking the whole thing. Specifically, you can take an abbreviated online course that covers only modules 11 to 15 instead of the whole thing, and this is a lot less expensive. But you do still need to do the hands-on training, and that is still the full price.
As far as I can tell, there’s only one hands-on session in the region plan before the pac cup in Monterey on March 29. If your certification refresher window expires before then, like mine does on March 18, the folks at US Sailing confirmed that as long as I do the online refresher before March 18, they will let me do the hands-on portion on March 29 and it will still count as a refresher. This is in case anybody else is in the same situation as I am, since there was a safety at see you back in march 2019 that a lot of of us attended and the five-year certification expired March 2024, the two year grace period for the refresher is expiring this March.
